Boracay Itinerary 2022: Erik the Hungry Traveller

Erik the Hungry Traveller’s Boracay Itinerary

2022:

What, Where, How Much, and What Comes After. Go ahead and read at your own peril, but be warned: this article may cause you to book a flight to the Boracay Islands sooner than you think!

In 3, 2, 1 and we are back to Blogging!

After a nightmare three years in which all humaaaans’ right to travel were seemingly revoked, I can now boldly scream at the top of my lungs, “YES!” The curse of three years without travel has finally been broken. (fireworks, confetti, fireworks!)

And what better way to kick off my solo travel experiences in 2022 than to return to the island that launched my travel blogging career. Being back on the island seemed like a full circle moment. And certainly, a lot has changed since my last visit to Boracay in 2019.

So I’ll do my best to make this as clear, easy, and informative as possible. Friends, allow me to show you my/ Erik the Hungry Traveller’s Boracay Itinerary 2022!

Plan that flight ahead of time

ETHT Boracay Itinerary 2022

To begin, it goes without saying that you must reserve your plane ticket ahead of time. There are numerous promotions offered by various airlines, and it is a general rule that the earlier you book, the cheaper the flights are.

I chose Cebu Pacific and received a round-trip ticket from Cebu to Boracay for only Php 1500.00.

Boracay Itinerary 2022: What to anticipate at the airport

I had no issues or difficulties getting from Mactan Airport in Cebu to Boracay and vice versa (I am from Cebu so for those non Cebu based readers just replace Cebu with your own hometown, alrighty?). It would have been the same if it hadn’t been for the folks wearing masks and the continual reminder to maintain social distance.

Other than wearing your face mask at all times while on the plane, there were no tougher regulations or standards that were observed.

Boracay Itinerary 2022: The Health Declaration Card

Before we get to the fun and exciting part, you must complete an ESSENTIAL requirement prior to your journey to Boracay: the Health Declaration Card of the Province of Aklan. You must present this at the Caticlan port in order to gain access to the fast craft ticketing booth.

This is an online form where you must upload government IDs, flight itinerary, hotel confirmation, and your vaccination card for fully vaccinated individuals and or RT PCR negative results for non-completely vaccinated travelers.

The form can be found by clicking this link right here: Caticlan Health Declaration Form

Caticlan Port is a shambles.

I hadn’t gone to Boracay in almost three years, so it had slipped my memory that buying a ferry ticket and paying the environmental fees were a little unpleasant. It didn’t help that I visited Boracay during the height of summer (May 15, 2022), so there were a lot of people waiting in line.

Boracay Itinerary 2022: Boarding the Ferry

As I previously stated, before you can purchase a ferry ticket, you must present your completed health declaration form (you may either print the document or store it on your phone- I did both).

Following the validation process, you must reapply for the ferry ticket and the environmental charge ticket (separate lines). So you basically have to line up three times.

How much does the fee from Caticlan to Boracay cost?

The ferry ticket to Boracay and back is 100 pesos per person, while the environmental fee is 150 pesos for non-Aklanon local tourists and 300 pesos for foreign tourists.

And oh add in the tricycle ride from the airport to the port which costs 200 Php per tricycle.

Touchdown in Boracay

The ferry voyage is only about 15 minutes long, so getting to the island is simple. When you arrive in Boracay, you have several alternatives for getting to your accommodation or going to Station 1, 2, or 3.

You can rent a motorcycle or an e-trike, or you can have your hotel pick you up at the jetty port.

I took an e-trike and gave the driver 20 PHP to transport me to my accommodation, which was located at station 2. And, oh, I was riding with other tourists, so if you don’t mind sharing the ride, you only pay 20 php, but if you want to have the car all to yourself, you’ll have to pay an additional 200- 250 php.

Boracay 2022 Itinerary: Station 1 vs. Station 2 vs. Station 3

This section of my article is a must-read for Boracay virgins because it will define your entire Boracay experience.

Boracay is largely divided by three stations.

Station 1 is the furthest away from the Boracay boat terminal. It’s a more tranquil, calm, and quiet setting. This is also where the majority of the good restaurants are.

The action takes place at Station 2. If Boracay were a TV network, this would be the primetime block. This is where the majority of the partying, dining, and tourism activities take place. So, if you want to be close to the activity, book a hotel at Station 2.

Station 3 on the other hand, in my opinion, is Station 2’s younger sibling. It has a few party and eating areas, but not as many as Station 2, and it also has some quiet spots, but not as many as Station 1. As a result, Station 1 and 2 are effectively integrated, which makes a lot of sense.

Which Station do I prefer?

Erik the Hungry Traveller in Boracay

I wanted to be near the excitement, so I booked a hotel in Station 2. Throughout my stay on the island, I wandered around stations 1 and 3 to visit food establishments that were recommended to me.

Regardless, you can walk from station 3 to 1, but motorcycles and etrikes are always available if you don’t feel like walking.

Boracay 2022 Itinerary: Where did I stay ?

I stayed at the Henann Palm Beach Resort in Station 2.

I chose the hotel because they have a free breakfast buffet- it is really reassuring and soothing to wake up in the morning and not have to worry about where you will eat breakfast.

Henann Palm was also near the beach. During my prior visits to Boracay, I generally stayed in the main town or at Bulabog beach, which is usually the meeting point for tourists looking to go island hopping or scuba diving. As a result, I decided to shake things up a little and stay at a beachfront hotel.

Henann Palm Beach Resort: A wise decision!

Needless to say, I was completely satisfied with my decision to stay at the hotel. I’ll be writing a detailed hotel review for Henann Palm Beach Resort, which I’ll link to in this Boracay Itinerary 2022 blog post.

You may book directly through their website or through Agoda. I booked directly through their website, saved a few pesos over reserving through Agoda. But I still love Agoda though!

Boracay Itinerary 2022: Boracay Restaurants

Boracay Itinerary 2022: Pig Out Bistro

A common misperception about Boracay, at least in my opinion, is that food is too costly. In truth, there are numerous dining alternatives available, ranging from quick food to roadside eateries (carenderias), to hole in the wall restaurants, to the well-known seafood paluto at the new D’ Talipapa.

In any case, depending on your budget, you have a variety of options to pick from.

These were the restaurants I visited throughout my stay in Boracay.

1. Pig Out Bistro Boracay – Station 1

2. Los Indios Bravos Boracay – Station1

3. Seafood Paluto at the New D’ Talipapa – Station 2

4. Palm Tree Restaurant – Station 2

5. Café Maruja – Station 3

There are still many food alternatives / restaurant options on the island, which I will discuss with you in my upcoming blog, along with my food review of the five restaurants I tried while in Boracay.

Where to Party in Boracay in 2022?

The reason I keep returning to Boracay is not only because of what the island has to offer in the morning, but also because of the parties and enjoyable events that take place at night.

Boracay’s nightlife scene has been downbeat since the rehabilitation and pandemic, compared to my previous visits. However, this does not mean that there are no longer places to hang out at night.

In truth, Boracay is still very much active at night, and clubs like Epic, OM, and Wave were my go-to spots for partying and drinking. Pat’s Creek bar has a chiller, more solemn air and plays Reggae music. All of these are located at Station 2 and are near the seashore. I also had a good time relaxing at Henann Palms’ pool bar with my favorite drink, the gin tonic.

There are still several party spots in the vicinity, one of which I failed to visit but where I frequently party is Paraw, which is located at Station 1. Other than the places I mentioned, please leave your suggestions in the comments section.

Boracay Itinerary 2022: Book that flight now! Like now na!

Boracay 2022 Escapade

Overall, my post-pandemic Boracay 2022 trip went better than I previously expected. Although visiting the island is easier and less stressful if you are completely vaccinated, the requirements are clearly indicated even when ordering a plane ticket to Caticlan.

I am just glad I am now able to travel again! And with that being said till my next travel adventures, and I tell you there are a lot lined up! Erik the Hungry Traveller Out!

  1. glad you truly had fun and able to enjoy your vacation. this is the first time i came across your blog. can’t wait for your next travel post.

  2. It was our first time to go to Boracay two months ago and we had a blast. Sadly, we were not able to find a beachfront hotel within our budget _ we’re a family of 5_ so we opted for Piccolo hotel, which wasn’t so bad. IT’s just a few steps from the beach and it’s within Station 2. So funny, I checked your food places and we were not able to try any of them, haha! Ang dami kasi ano? We saw Cafe Maruja but I think it was full when we passed it. Next time!

    1. thank you for taking the time to read my blog post super appreciated po ! This was my 1st travel in 3 years kaya i sorta splurged on this trip lol. My friends had a bad experience with Piccolo hotel but to be fair it is relatively near the beach. There are a lot of food places talaga sa Bora but I actually prefer some peace and quiet considering the island is bustling with folks. Anywho , glad you enjoyed reading my blog and hopefully when you get to be back there you can try the food places out. Take care and cheers!

  3. Wow! Such a great Boracay itinerary, the place looks absolutely mesmerizing from the accommodation to the beach itself. The Food also looks delicious and yummy!
