ETHT Reviews Hotels in Cebu 2021 :
The Good, The Bad & The Ewww!
Hey folks, Erik here from ETHT, and we are again rating Hotels in Cebu 2021. The list will continuously expand as I visit more hotels/bed and breakfast establishments in the coming months.
Staying in Hotels in Cebu just got more complicated and trickier, with Covid 19 still being a pain in the behind for all of us!
At first, I enjoyed the slash down on the rates and how cheaper it is to be doing staycations in hotels—particularly those located at the heart of Cebu City. But honestly, at some point, I feared for my life (LOL) as there was a time that the COVID cases in Cebu city increased.

It is cheap relative to its location, which is in Cebu Business park. Very near to Ayala Center Cebu. And they have indoor parking, which is essential for me whenever I visit hotels in Cebu. Wifi is also generally okay.
The room, despite its wreaking of ancient history, was clean.
𝗔𝗯𝘆𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲: You know you are in a cheap hotel when the front desk team is just worthless. Okay, except for the one guy who handled my check-in (reputable hotels save him from the horror). The rest of the front desk team were just human shells to the degree that even if you replaced one with a broomstick, you would not notice the difference.
Finally, the rest of the staff were equally, if not worst, than the front office team.

Now I availed of their promo, which clearly stated in detail what the BIG BREAKFAST package consists of, and a lot was missing, including- Coffee. Like who serves breakfast without a hot beverage and nopes, not even a cold drink. So if you plan on staycationing (despite my fair warning), don’t bother ordering their food.

The hotel does not smell good at all. It wreaked of food and not the aromatic kind. Let’s leave it at that.

The room was as always impeccably clean, although I noticed that their WIFI was weaker than my last year’s visit. Nonetheless, I did not see any downgrade in terms of how the cleanliness and sanitation of the hotel.
The lobby was better now! Although if these were the Battle of the Lobbies, Harold’s hotel would be on top.
Perhaps their best asset is their buffet dining experience. Maybe Parklane Hotel could learn a thing or two about how Harolds’ H Café.
Why is that? These are the reasons why:
𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗬: they are the only hotel to sustain a breakfast buffet and turned it into a BRUNCH BUFFET that widens their market from early risers to I hate mornings but love a breakfast meal!
𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬: I have been to H Cafe 4 times now, and their food is consistent. Not going to exaggerate desserts are not their forte, but overall the food has always been generally above average! Again their egg’s effin benedict is 👏
𝗩𝗔𝗟𝗨𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗬: For less than 600Php, you can have your breakfast and lunch at H Cafe. And yes, they add in new meals as the day transitions from morning to noon.
Well, now perhaps I am just a**hole about it, but when their parking is complete at the front of the hotel, you have to drive around to a vacant lot which I honestly find scary, especially when you plan to go there night time.
While I rave about H Café, their roof deck restaurant is a no for me. When we talk of ambiance and a chill vibe, then A plus, but when it came to food. It was a Meh for me. It was expensive, and the taste was not there.

The hotel had well-behaved guests and, throughout my stay, have strictly followed health and safety protocols. It also helps that the staff, including the security guards, were all well-equipped and always on alert in ensuring all guests who enter the hotel premises passed through health and security checks.
The hotel also has a sanitary kit that contains masks and alcohol. Customer service was also good but not great. I liked how warm the front desk staff were and were also helpful when I made specific inquiries.
They also made a small nook for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration, nothing jaw-dropping but A for effort! Still way better than some hotels that made no effort at all.
I’ve been to the hotel a couple of times, and they have a partly shaded pool which is well maintained and presentable and a small gym, and a smaller sauna (although I am not sure if their sauna was open due to the pandemic)
I barely went out of the room as I dedicated my stay in the hotel to complete deadlines. I needed the peace, quiet & strong WIFI to complete projects, and Parklane delivered!
I had a plated meal for my breakfast. So…
- The guy who took my breakfast order was borderline rude /exhausted with work. The first line he told me when I was about to mention my order was: Sir, are you the one who called a while ago about your order? It’s going to be 10 min more. So in my head, I was like (b*tch don’t give me the Attitude before I even had my coffee), but what came out of my mouth was Nopes, not the one who called.
- They did not even apologize yet they claim to have “Cebuano hospitality” you might want to reconsider your slogan.
Anyway, long story short. The Bacon breakfast meal that I ordered came out as a Corned Beef meal which was no good with their tocino. I mean for a resto that claims to be 2019’s best breakfast buffet from a known media establishment in Cebu. Yeah, not sure about that.
Lastly, their dinner buffet was also not delicious. It was sad, cold, and just plain dull. Well, it is the age of pandemic, so perhaps the hotel just has not found the right groove when it comes to new regular dining. Nonetheless, it was not good!

Summit Galleria Cebu
The hotel is part of Robinson’s Galleria Mall, so buying food and other essentials for your stay would not be a problem. Checking in and Checking out was swift and exceptional commendation to the guy at the front desk, who was accommodating and polite despite the multiple guests checking in and out during the time of my stay.
The Lobby of Summit Galleria Cebu was perfection! And it probably is the best lobby I have ever seen when we talk about hotels in Cebu.
My room was spacious and clean. Everything was working correctly, and I could not ask for more about the room’s features.
The Middle Ground:
The in-house resto was nothing special, plus they had tons of competition since again it’s inside a mall. There are more affordable and quality restaurants that you can choose from if you explore Robinson’s Galleria.
If you plan on staycationing and just disconnecting from the online world, then this would not be an issue for you. Otherwise, the hotel’s WIFI connection is abysmal. As my phone’s 4G connection was more substantial than their room WIFI.
A slow internet connection is a major turn-off for me. And I speak for the majority when I say that a big hotel should invest in a sound WIFI system.
The hotel observed health and safety protocols. However, guests (well, those I shared an elevator with) just were unable to comprehend the concept of maximum elevator capacity. It was too unfortunate since they had an indoor pool but didn’t bother to check it out as again my safety comes first.
