Web Hosting

Doing another hotel review and this time I got to do a weekend stay at Amethyst Boutique Hotel Cebu!

I have been doing a number of reviews for this site but this is the first time I am featuring a Cebu owned hotel.

For those of you who are unaware, I Erik the Hungry Traveller am a resident of Cebu City Philippines.

Amethyst Boutique Hotel Cebu - the View

Thus, I believe it is about time that I do more features of my hometown- Planning to do more features of my hometown and boy oh boy there are a lot of wonderful places to visit here in Cebu.

Anyways, enough of the pleasantries and let us move on with the review for Amethyst Boutique Hotel Cebu.

For those with short attention span (like Me). Here’s the short story:

Amethyst Botique Hotel is Erik the Hungry Traveller approved!

-Erik the Hungry Traveller

It’s a boutique hotel with a service fit for a King or a Queen or for any royalty who loves his or her share of gemstones/precious stones (wink).

But if you are keen into the details then read along…

The Location

Amethyst Botique Hotel is located along a quiet corner of uptown Cebu City.

For my Cebuano readers this means that its smack right in the center of Cebu City which is a very convenient and easy to find location.

Amethyst Boutique Hotel Cebu - the Facade

To be more specific Amethyst Boutique Hotel Cebu is right beside the iconic Cebu Provincial Capitol.

A national historical landmark and considered to be one of the oldest and most beautiful edifices of its kind.

Close by are famous landmarks and attractions: Fuente Osmena Circle, Colon Street, old Spanish churches, Magellan’s Cross, Carbon Market, Tabo-an Market and Pari-an district.

For my fellow global travelers the location of Amethyst Boutique hotel Cebu is a gateway to scenic attractions specifically if you seek some Southern style Cebu adventure.

And by Southern Style adventure this would also include Canyoneering, Whale Watching, Historical visits, White beach and many more.

The Mood

FUN FACT : Amethyst is a purple stone consisting of a purple variety of quartz. It is said to be a natural stress reliever with healing properties that rid negative energy and encourage inner strength, wealth, and clarity of the mind.

As soon as you enter the lobby of Amethyst Boutique Hotel Cebu aside from the smiling security guard and the amiable front desk staff.

You will also be greeted with the aromatic scent that is unique to the hotel.

Yes, the hotel has trademarked an “Amethyst scent “one that is uniquely theirs.

I’ve heard of trademarking the color scheme, the furniture or the logo.

This is the first time I’ve ever heard of a hotel trademarking their own scent. Which is pretty cool by the way!

Amethyst Boutique Hotel Cebu - the Scent

The scent seems to be a combination of Lavender, citrus and other scent that is very aromatic yet not too strong for those who may be allergic or sensitive to certain scents.

The scent combination is top secret thus I just went for how my nose perceived the scent.

The Rooms

Being a boutique hotel, Amethyst has 52 guestroom capacity. What the hotel lack in capacity they make up for it in room space by providing modern comfort for the contemporary traveler.

This was my Room- Absolutely Elegant and Spacious!

Unlike other hotels where it feels a tad cramped. The rooms in Amethyst Boutique Hotel are very spacious. Actually I feel like I was not in a hotel but in a luxury condominium due to how spacious their rooms are.

They offer room’s specific for your needs. They have rooms for Travel Buddies, for groups, for family and wait for it… for solo travelers.

Yes you read it right they have rooms – affordable at that – for those traveling solo.

All their rooms also come with free breakfast. – We’ll talk about their in house restaurant on another blog post (wink!) .

But for a sneak peak this is what comprises their free breakfast when you book a room at the hotel.

And yes I mean all of what you see on the top photo!

The Service

Cebuano hospitality at its best. Their staff may not be perfect (heck no one is right?) but you can be assured that they do their optimum best to make your stay worthwhile.

Checking in and out of the hotel was hassle free. The staff attend to your needs right away.

Amethyst Boutique Hotel Cebu - the Lobby

I asked for a bucket of ice, a spoon and a glass during my stay (don’t ask what I need those for LOL) and they responded to my request immediately.

From the front desk, to room service even their waiter and food attendants were all very courteous and eager to make your stay in the hotel a pleasant one.

The Newest Gem in Metro Cebu!

As a frequent traveler I always am very particular with my hotel accommodation.

By that I mean I would rather, spend a few extra bucks just to ensure that I am comfortable and safe in my hotel.

Occasionally I encounter hotels that are extremely value for your money. The – “I can’t believe I got this hotel deal” type of moment.

My Amethyst Boutique Hotel experience is on that list.

It has all the elements and potential of a 5 star establishment integrated in a boutique hotel.
